Traffic Assistant FAQQ. How easy is the Traffic Assistant to install? A. It is very easy to install and comes with full installation instructions. Most people have found that it takes them less than three minutes to install. Q. I Don't have Telnet access to my server. Can I still install the Traffic Assistant? A. If you can change file permissions through FTP yes you can. Q. You said the Traffic Assistant can deliver content or redirect a surfer based on the country he is in. What is the difference between delivering content and redirecting? A. If you tell the Traffic Assistant to deliver content to a specific country it dynamically loads the html from a file or URL you specify in to the existing page. This way the URL in the browser stays the same. Redirecting sends the browser a 302 redirect request and loads the URL you specify in the current browser window. The browser URL will reflect the new URL. Q. Why would I want to redirect my foreign traffic in the first place? A. The short and sweet answer is to make more money! The longer answer is why waste your resources on a surfer who can't read the language your site is in? This only costs you money. Look at it this way. Have you ever gone to a site say in Japanese? If not try it. You will sit there dumbfounded trying to figure out what the site is about and how to navigate it. Q. Your country list has a lot of countries on it. Can I have the Traffic Assistant redirect each country to a different page? A. Yes you can! You have 100% control where you send each country to. Q. How often is the database updated? A. It is updated once per month. Q. Do the database updates cost anything? A. The GeoIP Standard database updates are available at no charge to licensed Traffic Assistant users. Q. I plan on using the Traffic Assistant on all of my sites. Do I have to upload the databases to each site? A. If all of your sites are on one server you can have all your sites share the same databases. Q. I am going to redirect all my sites the same way. Do I have to manage each one separately? A. If all the sites are on the same server you can manage them all with just one admin area. They can all share the same redirect rules database. Q. How does geo based redirection look to search engines and human edited directories? Will you be excluded or banned for offering different content to people that the se robot or reviewer sees? A. What the search engines and directory
reviewers see is just a normal html page. They see the same page the surfer
from there country sees. The only difference may be that a German search
engine would see your German page if you configured to reroute German
traffic, a Japanese search engine would see your Japanese page, etc.... Q. I don't want the foreign search engine spiders redirected. What can I do? A. You simply add the IP addresses of each foreign search engine spider you do not want to redirect regardless of it's originating country to a exclusion file the Traffic Assistant uses. Then the search engine spider will see the non redirected page instead. This works the same way as very expensive search engine spider cloaking scripts work. Q. I live in a country that I want to redirect. I don't want to be redirect though. What can I do? A. Simply add your IP to the Traffic Assistant's IP exclusion file. Then you will never be redirected. Q. I submit my sites to a link list and the reviewer keeps seeing the redirect page instead of the regular page. What is going on? A. The reviewer lives in a country you have set to redirect. Simply add his or her IP to the Traffic Assistant IP exclusion file to prevent the reviewer from being redirected. |
